The weather glass is one of the oldest weather observation instruments. Seafarers such as the Phoenicians used them to make prognosis, vital for journeys by ship.

Goethe busied himself with the study of air pressure using such a devise. The position of the water in the glass tube reliably indicates all changes in air pressure. Finished, the weather glass is 15.5 x 11.5 x 22cm.
